(August 18, 2020 – Los Angeles). On August 12, 2020, the Second Appellate Court issued its final ruling affirming the August 26, 2019 jury verdict for the defense in a $2.25 million dispute over the ownership and management of a Cannabis dispensary. (Franco Brunetti, et al v. Arts District Patients Collective, et al, LASC No. BC667048) (Hon. G. Alarcon). The outcome of the nine-day jury trial was a 12-0 verdict for Reif Law Group, P.C. (RLG) clients on all causes of action including breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and fraud. After the jury verdict, the Court awarded RLG’s clients $272,426.50 in attorneys’ fees and $23,113.21 in costs.

RLG partners Brandon S. Reif and Marc S. Ehrlich took over the case for trial to replace prior counsel, who had lost a multi-million jury trial months that involved similar claims and theories and the same attorneys for the plaintiffs. Brandon S. Reif commented, “This win is significant because our clients had recently lost a related case and brought us on to reverse the state of things. It shows that electing to change counsel before trial is sometimes a ‘win or lose’ proposition.”
